Sadza Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • ½ cup maizemeal
  • 1/3 cup Ready made pizza sauce
  • cups Mix of mozarella and cheddar cheese grated
  • 1 Tomato sliced
  • Spinach leaves

Instructions

For sadza crust

  1. To make the sadza crust: In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the maize meal in a gradual stream, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook, whisking frequently, for about 15-20 minutes until the mixture pulls away from the sides of the pan into a firm, sticky mass.
  2. Put some mealie meal on a baking sheet/ pizza stone. Spread the hot sadza into a preferred shape. Leave to cool down completely.

For pizza

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 F.
  2. Spread pizza sauce. Add cheese and tomato slices and spinach on top. Feel free to use your favourite pizza toppings.
  3. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top.
