10 Great Oils for Natural Hair

I have been using different oils in my hair for sometime. I like light oils and they usually give great shine to my hair. I usually add the oils to my DIY hair moisturizer as well as my oil mix. Other than hair, I use these oils for other medicinal and beauty purposes as well.

Rosemary oil

When applied to the scalp, rosemary oil promotes growth and prevents greying, thinning, and dandruff.

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is an antiseptic. When applied to the scalp it can heal infections. It also stops itchiness and dandruff; I add some to my shampoo. Tea tree oil is also great for treating acne when applied as a toner.

Eucalyptus oil

Eucalyptus has many medicinal uses. It helps strengthen hair and increase elasticity. When Leo had a cold, I rubbed it on his chest and it helped clear his nose.

Peppermint oil

Peppermint oil promotes hair growth. Add a few drops of the oil to shampoo, and it stops the scalp from itching. Personally, I like the fresh minty smell.

Olive oil

I use olive oil in many of DIY deep conditioners. It helps soften the hair and add shine. Olive oil helps seal in moisture.

Coconut oil

I like coconut oil for detangling my hair. It adds shine and softens too. Coconut oil is great for cleaning your face and is also great all over moisturising.

Castor oil

Castor oil is great for thickening hair. It also has healing properties for the scalp. It will help regrow edges that have been damaged.

Argan oil

Argan oil can be used as a leave in conditioner. It will also reduce frizz while keep the scalp well moisturised.

Avocado oil

It nourishes the hair and seal in moisture.

Jojoba oil

Jojoba will help moisturise hair and avoid a dry scalp.
