Churros

Allergies are killing me! This year my allergies are so bad I am barely managing some days. I can’t even say chikuru kufema ( the important thing is you are still breathing) like everyone else. It is hard to breath when you are constantly sneezing. Of all the things that I should have outgrown, allergies should have been top of that list. Parenting a non-stop four year old in-between sneezes is no fun. Also antihistamines are the worst, last night could not finish telling Leo his bedtime story as I fell asleep.

Right now, I am feeling a little better, I am praying it lasts the day.

Yesterday I decided to try churros. I have seen them made on TV a lot of times but had not actually tried to make them. In my head I have always thought of them as the Spanish version of fatcooks but cooked twice. The reality is they taste nothing alike.  Unlike fatcooks, churros dough is cooked twice  which gives them and crunchy crust unlike the soft fatcooks. They are covered in  cinnamon sugar but are not too sweet. They are fun to make and Leo loved helping me and eating them. I used this recipe from Happy Foods Tube
