I promise I am not a clutter bug, but I never throw away any leftover yarn or material until I am certain I am never going to need it again. In a way it saves me money if I can use say a $3 ball of yarn on more than one project. It probably annoys the people I live with. The other day I realised that I still had materials left over from when I last made jewellery. That is more than two years ago. I made some tassels with the material.
You will need:
- Embroidery thread
- Metal Bead Cones
- 2 inch Open Eye Pins
- Round Nose Pliers
- E6000 Jewelry and Bead Adhesive
- various small and large beads
Wrap the thread about 15-20 times or more {depending on the thickness you want your tassel to be} around a 7-8 inch long piece of card. I used a business card.
Tie the thread together with one piece of thread. Open the hook on your 2-inch eye pin with your round nose pliers. Hook it through the thread you just tied in the center of the string. Close the open hook end of the pin with pliers. Add a dot of glue where the hook is looped through the thread to secure the knot and hook. Add a dot of glue inside the cap/cone.
Feed the straight end of the eye pin through the cap and pull tightly and add your beads Grab the tip end of the pin with the round nose pliers and curve it around to make a loop. Make sure the end meets the pin.
