DIY Painted Vase

I love to garden and always have a plant somewhere in our home except from the summer when everything just dies from the heat. Fall is like a new beginning when I start to plant again. For as long as I have been here I have used plastic pots. This is because living in Bermuda as an expat you never really know how long you are going to stay so many things are temporary and should have to move, they should be easy to dispose of. For that reason we do not buy a lot of new things which is great for the environment as it is a great way to recycle.

This past week I decided I wanted too get one terracota pot for a coleus I had. The pot was just so brown and boring. I decided to give it a makeover with some paint.

See, boring!

I taped the bottom with a painter’s tape.

Using a brush I painted it white and let it dry. Remember to paint the top inside the pot. Let it dry.

Mix a little black paint with a little bit of water to make the paint runny and easy to splatter. I have only one paint brush I use for everthing so I used to splatter the black paint. If you have a small brush it will make the splats smaller too.

Let it dry and then you can plant your flower or herbs.
