DIY Springtwist using Xpression braid

DIY Spring Twist

It has been a while since I shared anything hair related. I have been doing my hair for a long time but my routine is pretty much the same and quite boring. I put my hair in twists most of the time. I wear my hair out for a day if at all. I do my hair most of the time because I hate going to the saloon most of the time. Plus my hair is long enough to do 2 or flat twists which take about 10 minutes and I can make them last.

I bought some Xpression braids but never got to use them. I used them to make spring twists. Which you can use as crochet braids, passion twists or faux locs. It is time-consuming but I like doing it. If you are like me you will enjoy it. With an added benefit of saving money as spring twists are pricier compared to the regular braids or you just cannot find it in your local area.

Time needed: 2 days

How to make DIY spring twist using Xpression braid.

  1. You will need Xpression braid( I found one that was already pulled), bobby hairpins and plastic straws. Barbeque sticks would work as well.

  2. Pull apart enough to make one braid.

  3. Secure the braid around the hook of the straw.

  4. Twist the braid around the straw.

  5. Secure the braid with a bobby hair pin.

  6. Repeat step 2 -5 as many times as you need to.

  7. Put all your twisted braid in a small tub or bucket and pour boiling water and submerge the twisted braid.

  8. When the water has cooled down, drain the water and put the braids on a towel and allow to air dry. Overnight works well.

  9. Carefully unravel the braid from the straw and remove the bobby pin.
