DIY Stencilled Wood Art

When I made the wood tray, I had some leftover wood. I never want to throw anything away that I can use, so I made this stencilled wood art.

I use stencils because I can not draw but I love making art.

For this art, you can use any amount of wood that you have. I had five  4 inch wide pieces. I used a scrap wood I picked up outside to use as a bracket to hold the pieces together. Nail each of the pieces of wood to the bracket.

I used my red oak stain to colour the wood.  Let the stain dry.

Find a map outline or picture that you want to use and cut out the middle to make the stencilling template. Alternatively, you can buy pre-made stencils at the art shop.

Use tape to stick the template to the wood.

Paint on top of the stencil and let dry.

Remove the template and hang your art.
