How to sew a simple beanie

I like to knit beanies and love to wear them. But sometimes it’s too hot for a knit beanie so I made a beanie for myself.

I have made a turban hat before.  It is one of my favourite tutorials and probably the most special of them all. A lot of people who use that tutorial use it to make turbans for people going through chemotherapy and donate them. That was never my intention but it feels really good that one of the things I made is actually useful and will bring a smile to someone who is going through a hard time. I craft mostly for fun and sometimes things that I need so it feels really good.

For the beanie I am sharing today, you will need stretch fabric, thread, scissors, needle or sewing machine. You can actually recycle an old t-shirt. Takes less than twenty minutes start to finish.

To start you will need to download this pattern.

If you want you can just sketch it as shown below.

Pin and cut as directed on the pattern. For each piece sew the ends as illustrated below.

With right sides facing, stitch around leaves about 2 inches open. Pull the hat through the opening and sew the opening shut.It will be a long tube, so fold it to become a hat and that is all!
