Summer Trends 2011, That I Made

alt

It has been a hectic three weeks for me, between the baby shower I planned, teaching Vacation Bible School at church, having my nephew visit and everything else in between. Its was just crazy but I am glad God got me through it all. In the weeks past I have made a lot of stuff, learnt new skills. The best thing was learning how to print on fabric, maybe with permission I will get to show you the picture here.

I am not a ‘trendy’ person, I do not go for clothes that are ”in” at the moment, I like clothes that will still look good ten years from now. When I choose clothes and shoes I usually go for the clothes that are most comfortable and do not require much effort from me. At most I will be donning a 3 inch heel and little or no make up. Do not get me wrong I like to look nice but I do not have the patience to spend an hour dressing! Anyway for this summer I have made clothes( all with material I got on sale) that are trending right now for the summer.

Firstly I made this jumpsuit with McCall”s 6083 pattern. I chose the strapless with the sash. What I like the most about this jumpsuit is the pattern on the material :

A few weeks ago I was over at Musings Of A Housewife where she showcased some of the trending clothes right now, I really liked the eyelet skirt but there is now way I will spend that much money on a skirt. I found the eyelet fabric at our local fabric store and made this simple A-line skirt using a pattern from Stitch magazine. I especially like the hemming on the fabric.

Last but not least, I made this top using McCall”s 6204. This was so so easy to make with great results, I think Leo agrees with me too, see the way he is looking at me ;-).

Seeing that there is only a few weeks before the summer comes to an end, I am now planning to make a few things for fall starting with this Nancy Zieman”s pattern.

So what are your favorite summer trends, or if you are in the southern hemisphere what are you planning on? Let me know leave a comment here.
