Toddler Backpack

Leo likes to imitate us, lately he looks for my bag and tries to put it over his shoulder and he walks to the gate and waves goodbye to me. It is really funny but also makes me realise how much influence I and the people around us have on him.

I decided to make him his own backpack. I bought a pattern from Made By Rae. If you have made a bag before it will be a breeze. As for me I was quickly reminded why I do not do a lot of sewing these days, my machine is old and needs to be replaced and Leo just would not nap. Without any distractions I would have finished this bag in under two hours but it was a process that ended up taking me the whole day and I was frustrated.

I found this circus fabric at the local department store on sale. I got a yard of the material which was enough for the outside and lining. I could not find piping here so I just made the bag without it. I think it would have made the bag look even better but it works just fine as it is.

Of all the things that I have made for Leo, of which I have made a lot, I think he loves this the most. In an instant he was not a baby anymore and I almost cried. He is now a little boy who can carry his own things. It is amazing how fast time goes.

I could not get him to be still to get a picture, but here he is on our way to church last Sabbath.
