Bermuda is a small island country that is 21 square miles. It is made up of approximately 120 islands. The larger islands are connected by bridges and a causeway. You will not even notice it though that you are island hoping. Driving from one end of the island to the other takes about an hour, the speed limit is 35 km per hour.
Bermuda has a coastline of about 100 km so there are many public and private beaches. Bermuda’s sand is pink and the beaches are always clean and safe. To me the beaches are some of the most beautiful I have seen. Like I mentioned last week, wherever you stay on the island there is a beach that will be accessible to you by foot.
Here are 10 of the best beaches you will find on your visit to Bermuda in no particular order:
Horseshoe Beach
Horseshoe beach is the most popular with tourists. If you like crowds then this is the beach for you. There are buses that service Horseshoe in summer months. During holidays like the Cup match, a local non-profit Chewstick holds Beachfest that is just a big party that targets the youth. There is also small area that is reserved for kids. Right next is the private beach for Fairmont Southampton Hotel guests.
Elbow Beach
Located in Paget, Elbow beach is one of the most popular beaches in Bermuda. It located next to Elbow beach hotel which owns part of the beach. I have not used this beach except for taking walks on its pink sand.
Warwick Long Bay Beach

This is probably the best beach in Bermuda. It does not get as crowded as Horseshoe though. It gives the impression of being secluded if it is what you are looking for.
Shelly Bay Beach

This is probably the best beach in Bermuda if you have small children. It has a large playground and the water is really shallow.
Clearwater Beach

Clearwater Beach is in St David. It has a huge park that in cooler months we usually use for picnics and braais. I find the water is calmest here. There is a restaurant/bar that you can use if wish to buy some food and drinks. You can also take a walk to Cooper’s Island.
Snorkel Park
Snorkel Park is located in Dockyard. This one you have to pay, I think it is $10. It is great for lounging as well as water sports like jet-skiing and kayaking.
Church Bay Beach

This beach is great for snorkeling. There is a company that rents out snorkelling gear.
Tobacco Bay

Tobacco bay is located in St George. IT is great for snorkelling and just relaxing. This was the first beach, Leo took me to when I first came to Bermuda.
John Smiths Bay

This beach is in Smith’s Parish. It is great for those looking for a secluded place. There is a lifeguard here too even though it is not crowded.
Jobson’s Cove

Next to Warwick Long Bay is Jobson’s Cove. It looks like a natural swimming pool. It is separated from the sea resulting in calm water. It is perfect for swimming as well as snorkeling.
