‘What I wore- Intercultural day’

alt

Bermuda has a large expat community, people from all over the world. There is some sixty countries represented here and in our church we have people from over twenty countries. It is interesting that even though the Seventh Day Adventist Church is a global organisation we worship differently but the message remains the same. At Hamilton, where I go, we have a an annual intercultural day which is really great because you get to learn more about other cultures and appreciate the diversity. I think it is awesome that God made us in His image but still made us different.

We were all to wear our national dress, well being Zimbabwean we really do not have one, so instead I made a two piece that made me look African.

It is a waxed java fabric, for the skirt I used simplicity 7384, and for the blouse I used Butterick B4985.With extra fabric I made a simple turban with it. I must say I was happy with the way it came out and I looked the part. We have flags for the countries that are represented in our church, so I am standing next to our Zimbabwean flag.

Wish I had extra fabric to make a bag, maybe a clutch, will see.
