We’ve all heard the expression that we have more in common than we have different. This is especially true when it comes to Motherhood. No matter where you are across the globe, you will find that Mothers will sacrifice anything for their children! That’s why Personal Creations surveyed over 1,000 mothers to see exactly what new moms do for their babies. The results prove just how hard mothers really work.
We also want to celebrate new motherhood across different cultures. For example, it’s fascinating to know that in Brazil, new moms receive gifts when they’re visited in the hospital.
However, one of the most interesting new motherhood rituals occurs in Zimbabwe. There, newly pregnant women often live with their parents for months prior to the birth of their child. The pregnant woman’s mother takes care of her daughter during this time, and may give her herbs that will help her in the process of giving birth.
Perhaps the most interesting part of this tradition is the ritual that occurs with its commencement. Traditionally, the Father of the unborn infant brings goats, material for the mother-in-laws dress, and more as gifts. A ceremony follows in which the mother-in-law asks her ancestors to guide her daughter through safe childbirth.
