How To Make Spreadable Butter

For the last few months I have been trying to do one big grocery shopping every month. This is what my mother has always done but it does not always work for me here. My has always had the advantage of a garden and big house(compared to mine) to store her groceries. Actually because my mom participates in grocery clubs she can have groceries to last upto a year. The norm here is that people buy what they need for the week. I now only go for fruit because the fruit here does not last long, it does not stay fresh.

I have been buying butter in bulk. I use butter for cooking and baking but it’s not easy to spread on bread so I would also get a tub of spreadable butter and sometimes margarine. I ran out of the spreadable butter before I could go to the shops so I looked at the ingredients on my now empty tub: Butter and Olive Oil. Things that I already have and it would cost me less than half what I would have paid and two minutes of my time.

To make spreadable butter you whish together room temperature butter, oil and cream/water. That is all. I used olive oil but you can use canola oil too. If you wanted to make herbed butter then you could add chopped herbs and or spices.
