Handmade Body Butter Recipe

Earlier this week I did a post on the herbal extracts that I made and I explained why I do most of the things I do myself. Continuing with that theme I made my own body butter. I did a lot of research online and ended up with my own formula. Basically, body butters are made up of 75% solid oils and 25% liquid oils, I hope my calculations were right. Here is my composition:

1 cup Shea butter

1/2 cup Cocoa Butter (shaved)

1/2 cup Coconut oil

1/3 cup Sweet Almond oil

1/3 cup Glycerin

Note: I do not have a scale so I am sure my measurements are not what they are supposed to be, but for now this will have to do.

Method

Place all the oils in a glass bowl and melt over a hot water bath until all the oils melt.

Place the melted oils in a freezer for 15 minutes or until the oils are partially solid.

Whisk with a stand mixer or hand mixer until the butter is nice and creamy.

Scoop into tight lid containers.

So far I love this butter and I think it will last me a long time, I am thinking I am going to use it for my hair too. One thing is I did not have essential oils when I made this butter so it just smells like the cocoa butter.

If you would like to make this butter for yourself you can find the ingredients at your beauty supply store, pharmacy, grocery store or Amazon depending on where you are. Let me know if you give this a try.

I have tried it at home and used the stand mixer. It was really short time recipe with full of taste. Thanks
